SYEP Site Administrator

Job Type: Seasonal Full-Time, April through August
Program Overview

The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) provides New York City youth ages 14 and 15 with Project-Based Learning Activities and ages 16 to 24 with Paid Summer Employment for six weeks in July and August. Participants work in a variety of entry-level jobs including:

  • Government Agencies

  • Hospitals

  • Summer Camps

  • Non-Profits

  • Small Businesses

  • Child Care Facilities

  • Senior Centers

  • Sports Enterprises

  • Retail Organizations

Specific Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for coordinating with PBL instructor to ensure curriculum is being facilitated according to DYCD mandates

  • Ensure smooth programming while at partnering schools, facilities and/or trips

  • Responsible for retrieval of the following on schedule sign in sheets (weekly); evaluations (week 3 and 6); project placement documents (weekly); assessment reports, if any

  • Responsible for the following payroll procedures: Sign-in sheets- calculating, totaling, entering, tracking, signing and filing

  • DYCD Online System- input hours by deadline; address back pay issues; missing signatures, etc

  • Develop a strong, professional relation with the staff, worksite administrators, as well as the SYEP participants

  • Maintain a professional attitude and manner that reflects the high standards of the program you  serve and represent

  • Facilitate daily and/or weekly staff meetings with PBL instructors ad Site Clerk to insure project is following DYCD guidelines and time line; to also address any issues, challenges and/or concerns

  • Must be flexible to provide support with coverage where needed with general SYEP worksite/participant issues

  • Will be responsible for handling on-site emergencies that may arise and the submission of an incident report

  • Demonstrate appropriate boundaries with teens, parents, external worksites an co-workers

  • Attend job related trainings/workshops

  • Assist with overall SYEP program operations, as needed
